Development of training materials for Improved Farming Systems, Good Agricultural Practices and Food Security in Malawi

This assignment supported the Green Innovation Centers for the Agriculture and Food Sector (GIAE) established under the “Private Sector Development in Rural Areas” project by GIZ and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism in Malawi. The GAIA programme supports adoption of agro-ecological, sustainable gender and youth inclusive farming systems organizations focused on three oilseed and one tuber value chains, i.e. groundnut, soybean, sunflower, and cassava. This is done in close cooperation with local farmer organisations.

The objective of the assignment was to developcomprehensive training methodologies and harmonised training materials on Improved Farming Systems and Good Agricultural Practices(GAP) enabling increased production and productivity and enhancedfood security, based on agro-ecological, conservation agriculture, and climate smart production principles.
