Project Goals
• Strengthen Somalia’s national capacity to regulate and assure the quality of agricultural products.
• Enhance intergovernmental coordination and alignment on agricultural quality standards across federal and member states.
• Support the establishment and operationalization of a national laboratory for testing fruits and vegetables.
• Contribute to Somalia’s NDP-9 economic development goals by enabling quality-driven agricultural production and trade.

Type of Services Provided
• Capacity assessment and institutional development support to Somali Bureau of Standards (SOBS), SARIS, and Ministry of Agriculture.
• Development and facilitation of cooperation frameworks between federal and member state authorities (Puntland and Somaliland).
• Technical advisory on establishment and commissioning of a national agricultural testing laboratory.
• Development of laboratory equipment needs assessments and oversight of procurement and installation.
• Design and delivery of gender-responsive, human rights and conflict-sensitive training manuals for laboratory personnel.
• Development of M&E and knowledge dissemination plans in collaboration with GIZ.
• Documentation and sharing of case studies and best practices for future scaling and sustainability.
