Support KsTVET and TVETA to Implement CPD Policy Framework for TVET Trainers

Project Goals

  • Support the Kenya School of TVET (KsTVET) and the TVET Authority (TVETA) in operationalizing the national CPD policy framework for TVET trainers.
  • Institutionalize CPD as a mandatory and sustainable mechanism to enhance the quality and relevance of TVET teaching.
  • Build capacity of TVET trainers and managers through coordinated and accredited professional development pathways.
  • Promote a culture of lifelong learning and professional excellence within the TVET sector.

Project Context

The TVET sector in Kenya is undergoing significant reform to improve the quality, relevance, and labour market responsiveness of vocational training. One major component of this reform is the implementation of a national Continuous Professional Development (CPD) policy framework, aimed at ensuring TVET trainers remain up to date with pedagogical, technical, and industry-relevant skills.

The Kenya School of TVET (KsTVET) and TVET Authority (TVETA) play key roles in developing and regulating this CPD system. This project provides technical support to strengthen institutional mechanisms, develop CPD curricula and tools, and enhance the capacity of training institutions and trainers to deliver and monitor high-quality CPD programs aligned with national standards and labour market needs.
