Today, we join the global community in marking International Youth Day 2025, themed “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.” This year’s observance celebrates how young people are taking ownership of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), driving innovative solutions, and shaping the future of their communities.
At Sustainet Group, we have witnessed the power of youth-led change through projects that create lasting social, economic, and environmental impact. Two of our recent initiatives exemplify this transformative energy:
- African Feminist Change Makers (AFCM): Centering Women at the Heart of Change
This pan-African initiative empowers feminist leaders by building their confidence, resilience, and leadership capacity. It addresses systemic barriers and gender inequalities while fostering science-based innovation, particularly among women.
Through AFCM, we:
- Connected changemakers from tech and climate startups with corporate leaders to bridge communities across sectors.
- Facilitated peer exchanges between African feminist leaders and global counterparts with inclusive values.
- Nurtured a vibrant network of Feminist Change Makers, fostering collaboration, resource-sharing, and collective impact.
By placing women at the center of change, AFCM strengthens Africa’s innovation ecosystem and advances gender equity.
- Pool of Skilled Workers for the Project: Youth Employment in Agri-Food Sector in Western Kenya
This project tackles rural unemployment by increasing access to training and opportunities in the agri-food value chain.
Our approach includes:
- Providing skilled national and international short-term experts to deliver targeted support.
- Enhancing capacity for policy advocacy and institutional strengthening.
- Facilitating youth-focused dialogue forums, events, and stakeholder sessions.
- Strengthening youth networks and interest groups to promote sustainable livelihoods.
By integrating marginalized populations into productive agricultural systems, this initiative contributes to inclusive economic growth while empowering rural youth to become active drivers of development.
